Reference Photo Guidelines
I work from photos, so good, clear images that show details are important for achieving a realistic likeness. For best results, send photos:
Taken at the pet’s eye level, ideally not looking down at the pet.
Taken in natural light, no harsh shadows.
Relatively close distance.
Show the cat or dog’s eyes clearly.
Show hair and or fur detail and color.
Send more than one photo showing the pet in different poses or activities.
Write a short description of your fur person’s personality and favorite things.
My process — I will review your photos, and we will choose a suitable one. I will then edit it for color and clarity (if needed), enlarge it, and send it back to you for approval. Be advised that not all photos taken with a phone will be clear when enlarged.
I reserve the right to decline a commission if it appears I won’t be able to produce a realistic, beautiful painting from your reference photo.
