Capturing presence, connection & spirit.
Nadine Kelley Fine Art
I’m Nadine Kelley, an artist who creates expressive, lifelike portraits of beloved pets and wildlife.
As a bird photographer and amateur ornithologist, my work is rooted in careful observation and a deep appreciation for the natural world. I often draw from my own reference photos, allowing me to capture subtle details, posture, and expression.
I work with soft pastels, watercolors, and acrylics to create artwork that expresses presence, connection, and spirit—capturing not just how a subject looks, but a sense of their presence.
I specialize in pet portraits, where I aim to honor each animal’s individuality and presence. I pay particular attention to the eyes and strive to bring them to life so the subject feels present and real. For many of my clients, these portraits become something deeply personal—whether celebrating a beloved companion or preserving the memory of a pet who has passed.
While creativity has always been a quiet presence in my life, it wasn’t until recent years that I fully committed to my art practice. A turning point came through studying with Maryjo Koch, a naturalist, artist, author, and teacher based in Bonny Doon, California. Her approach to observation and nature-based painting continues to influence my work.
In addition to my studio practice, I enjoy teaching and encouraging others to explore their own creativity. My upcoming classes reflect my belief that making art should be accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful.
I enjoy photography and use many of my photos as inspiration for paintings.
